1. Introduction

Welcome to Moonfox (the "App"), a divination companion based on the traditional Chinese I Ching (六爻) method, with AI-powered interpretation. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data. We are committed to data minimization and to protecting your privacy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Divination input: The question text you enter and the hexagrams cast within the App. This text is sent to our backend solely for the purpose of generating an AI interpretation.
• Account information (optional, Google Play version only): If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your Google account UID, display name, email address, and avatar URL via Firebase Authentication.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Device locale & time zone: Used to render the hexagram with the correct calendar context.
• Crash & performance data (Google Play version): Anonymous crash logs may be collected via Google Play Services to help us fix bugs.
• Advertising identifiers: The free version of the App displays banner ads provided by AdMob (overseas) or Pangle (China). These SDKs may access advertising identifiers for non-personalized ad serving and frequency capping. See their respective policies linked below.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your real name, phone number, address, or biometric data.
• We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, or location.
• We do not build user profiles, sell data to third parties, or use data for any purpose other than what is stated in this policy.

3. How We Use Your Data

• AI interpretation: Your divination input is transmitted via HTTPS to our server (hosted on Alibaba Cloud in mainland China), then forwarded to DeepSeek, a large language model provider also located in mainland China. The provider returns an interpretation, which we relay back to your device. By using this feature, you acknowledge that your divination question and hexagram data will be processed by servers and AI services located in mainland China.
• Authentication: Account information is used solely to identify you and persist your sign-in state on the device.
• Local storage: Your divination history is stored only on your device. We do not sync, back up, or store this history on any server.
• Advertising: Ad SDKs use device identifiers in accordance with their own policies to serve banner ads.

4. Data Retention

• Divination input on our server: Discarded immediately after the AI interpretation is returned. We do not log or store the question text.
• Account information: Retained until you request account deletion (see Delete Account).
• Local history on device: Retained until you delete it manually or uninstall the App.

5. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following third-party services. Each is governed by its own privacy policy:

• DeepSeek AI (深度求索) — a mainland-China-based AI company providing the LLM that powers hexagram interpretation for all users (both mainland China and international). deepseek.com
• Google Play Services / Firebase Authentication — used for sign-in (Google Play version only).
• Google AdMob — banner ads in the Google Play (overseas) version.
• Pangle / GroMore (字节跳动) — banner ads in the China version.

6. Children's Privacy

Moonfox is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 14 in jurisdictions such as China). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you (limited to your account info).
• Request correction or deletion of your data.
• Withdraw consent for non-essential data processing.
• Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

8. Security

All data transmission to our backend uses HTTPS (TLS). Account information is stored in Firebase, which is governed by Google's enterprise-grade security practices. Local data on your device is protected by the Android sandbox.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced within the App.
